Quick Answer
As of September 28, 2026, the Vermont cannabis brands with the widest shelf presence across the 29 tracked dispensaries are Upstate Elevator and Pinnacle Valley Farms (each carried in 17 of 29 shops), followed by Sunset Lake Cannabis (15 shops). Ranked instead by total in-stock listings, Upstate Elevator leads with 122, ahead of Pinnacle Valley Farms (101) and Satori (84). The two rankings diverge because some brands go deep in a few shops rather than broad across many — Magic Mann carries 80 listings but only in 6 shops. These figures are from live online menu inventory, not point-of-sale data.
Ask which Vermont cannabis brand is "winning" and you will get opinions. We can answer it with menus. Our tracker reads the live online inventory of 29 Vermont dispensaries every night — about 2,600 in-stock listings — and that lets us do something a single store's shelf can't: measure which brands are actually distributed across the state, not just stacked deep in one shop.
This is the first edition of a monthly series we will keep current: the Vermont Brand Shelf Index.
Top brands by shelf presence (September 2026)
Shelf presence means the number of the 29 tracked shops with at least one in-stock listing from the brand, as of September 28, 2026:
- Upstate Elevator — 17 of 29 shops (122 in-stock listings)
- Pinnacle Valley Farms — 17 of 29 shops (101 listings)
- Sunset Lake Cannabis — 15 of 29 shops (72 listings)
- Satori — 10 of 29 shops (84 listings)
- Magic Mann — 6 of 29 shops (80 listings)
Breadth is not depth — and that is the story
Two brands can post big numbers for opposite reasons. Upstate Elevator is the clearest leader because it wins on both axes: carried in 17 shops and stacking 122 listings. That is real statewide distribution.
Magic Mann is the counter-example. Its 80 in-stock listings would rank it near the top on volume alone — but those listings sit in just 6 shops (its own storefront among them). That is a deep catalog concentrated in a few locations, not a brand you will find on most Vermont shelves. Satori shows a softer version of the same shape: 84 listings, but across 10 shops.
The lesson for anyone reading a "top brands" list: listing counts alone overstate concentrated brands and understate broadly-distributed ones. Shelf presence — how many shops actually stock you — is the harder, more honest signal of distribution.
The middle of the shelf is where it is contestable
Below the leaders, the field tightens fast. In-stock listing counts fall from the 60s into the 30s across the next ten brands — a long tail where landing in two or three more shops can move a brand several ranks. That is where Vermont distribution is genuinely up for grabs, and where a strong new harvest or a smart wholesale push shows up first in our data.
See it live
The rankings above are a September snapshot; the underlying menus move nightly. Our Vermont cannabis data hub keeps the live brand-share and category charts current, and the Vermont Flower Price Index tracks the price side of the same shelves — because the fullest shelf and the cheapest shelf are rarely the same one.
How we measure this
We capture each dispensary's public online menu nightly and count in-stock listings by brand. "Shelf presence" is the count of distinct tracked shops carrying a brand; "listings" is the total in-stock SKUs across all shops. We track 29 shops — an estimated ~71% of Vermont's retail catchment — so a brand that is strong primarily at shops we do not yet cover could rank higher statewide than it does here. And to be clear on one point: these are menu inventory figures, not point-of-sale data. We measure what is on the shelf, not what rings up at the register.
