Lake Effect Cannabis

Lake Effect Cannabis is the southernmost adult-use dispensary on the Champlain Islands, serving South Hero, Grand Isle, and North Hero. (Vermont Alter-Native at 939 US Route 2 in Alburgh serves the northern end of the chain.) As of June 2026, Lake Effect operates from its new location at 334 US Route 2 (the McGregor Building, across from Stewart's) — a prominent spot on the main island corridor that makes it easy to spot en route.

Lake Effect is farmer-owned and serves as the farm store for Sunset Lake Cannabis, grown right in South Hero. That means island-cultivated flower is available directly from the people who grew it, alongside a broad menu covering pre-rolls, edibles, drinks, vapes, tinctures, and topicals selected to serve both local residents and the steady wave of summer tourists doing the island loop.

Knight Point State Park (swimming beach, boat rentals), Snow Farm Vineyard (Thursday summer concerts), cycling routes, and Lake Champlain boating all bring visitors through South Hero from June through September — Lake Effect is a natural stop on that circuit. Hours are 10 AM–7 PM Monday through Friday, 9 AM–7 PM Saturday, and 9 AM–5 PM Sunday; the Sunday 5 PM close is the one timing detail to plan around.
